Maine_system_map_2005s.jpgThe best source of information on the Maine Airport System is the 2005 Maine Airport System Plan Update.

This graphic was taken from the Maine Airport System Plan update and illustrates the 36 airports throughout the state.  All Maine airports are critical resources that support Maine’s economic and transportation needs.

The Direct Economic Impact of Maine Airports

TwinAll 36 publicly owned airports in Maine generate $1.5 billion in total economic activity each year and support over 20,900 jobs with nearly $487.6 in annual payroll. The commercial service airports in the State comprise 93 percent of the total employment and output associated with all airports. At the commercial service airports, the jobs, payroll, and output include the benefits associated with the commercial service activity, general aviation activity, on-airport military activity, and air cargo activity.
