The Direct Economic Impact of Maine Airports
All 36 publicly owned airports in Maine
generate $1.5 billion in total economic activity each year and support
over 20,900 jobs with nearly $487.6 in annual payroll. The commercial
service airports in the State comprise 93 percent of the total
employment and output associated with all airports. At the commercial
service airports, the jobs, payroll, and output include the benefits
associated with the commercial service activity, general aviation
activity, on-airport military activity, and air cargo activity. (Source:
