Over View of Maine Airport System

There are 36 publicly-owned airport in the state of Maine. Six of the airports in our system provide scheduled commercial airline service. Four of those airports receive airline operating subsidies from the Federal Essential Air Service Program. The Maine Airport System Plan ranked all publicly-owned airports into four tiers based on their accessibility, support of tourism, economic contribution, current demand, historic investment and geographic coverage.
